Cardiovascular diseases form the major public health concern due to the large numbers of associated mortalities all across the world and more particularly in the western region. The atherosclerosis and of the arterial wall can lead to manifestation of various symptoms that could be ultimately fatal. Concerted multidisciplinary approaches have led to sophistication of the diagnostic technology thus enabling early detection and specific treatment of various cardiovascular ailments. Additionally integration of the epidemiological studies from diverse regions of the world has facilitated better comprehension of the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the underlying causal factors. Scientific and scholarly communications, particularly the open access platforms have played a major role in dissemination of the research outcomes and development of accurate diagnostic and effective therapeutic approaches.

The Journal of Angiology: Open access, provides a comprehensive and integrated perspective of both medical and surgical aspects of various cardiovascular diseases. The Journal offers coverage of a wide spectrum of the relevant topics that include general human physiology, pathophysiology of atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, cardiovascular risk factors, coronary syndromes, echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging, hyperlipidemia, haemorheology, haemodynamics, occlusive diseases, venous insufficiencies, interventional radiology and diagnostics and phlebology, for an updated and continuing education of physicians, cardiologists , angiologists, diabetologists, as well as cardiovascular surgeons.

The Journal focus has evolved with the research direction and currently emphasizes on the clinical aspects of both arterial and venous disorders and the associated haemodynamic principles and presentation of up-to-date discussion and interpretation on the recent research outcomes from all across the world. The Journal actively engages promulgation of systematic information on various risk factors associated with the atherosclerosis such as age, gender, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, hypertension, alcohol consumption, obesity, genetic factors and other infections.

The Journal was established in the year 2013 and has ever since successfully produced issues at a quarterly pace including special issues and special issues. The editorial panel of the Journal is comprised of eminent scientists and academicians from different countries. The Journal is currently engaged in the compilation and production of its 9th volume. In the current issue, the Journal has included an article that is exclusively comprised of clinical images of computed tomography of elderly women with ligament varicosity and varicose veins. In the preceding year, the Journal has brought out two regular and a special issues comprising of three full length research articles, three case studies and an editorial covering various latest topics of angiology including, peripheral arterial disease, effect of long-term physical exercise, intermittent claudication, carbon dioxide angiography, endothelial dysfunction, flow mediated vasodilatation, chronic total occlusion; ultra-low dose radiation procedure, aortic valve replacement [1], aortic regurgitations [2], systemic amyloidosis, cardiac complication arising out of COVID-19 [3], cardiopulmonary bypass surgery, congenital heart defects, patho-etiology of the transurethral resection. These articles were contributed by about twenty eminent cardiologists and academicians from all over the world. The peer-reviewed articles published by the Journal enhance our current understanding on various dimensions of angiology and throw light on various aspects of vascular diseases including their clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, management and rehabilitation. The editors of the Journal deserve great appreciation for bringing out these issues that enhance our current understanding of the angiology and the contribution of the authors is highly admirable.
