Introduction

The pancreas is an organ located in the abdomen. It plays an essential role in converting the food we eat into fuel for the body's cells. The pancreas has two main functions: an exocrine function that helps in digestion and an endocrine function that regulates blood sugar. The wide part, called the head of the pancreas, is positioned toward the centre of the abdomen. The head of the pancreas is located at the juncture where the stomach meets the first part of the small intestine. This is where the stomach empties partially digested food into the intestine, and the pancreas releases digestive enzymes into these contents.

Pancreas can be affected with different types of tumours like noncancerous. Most commonly observed tumour in pancreas starts within the cell. The disease caused to the pancreas can be curable in early stage; it’s often does not give any symptoms about the disease until it spread to the nearby organs like liver.

Causes and Treatment

Smoking is one of the reasons for this cancer which may increase the risk and growth of tumour. It‘s not clearly identified the main reason to cause of pancreatic cancer. Treatment for pancreatic cancer depends on stages and where it is located; it’s mainly depending upon the overall health of the patient. Pancreatic cancer can be treated in different ways one is surgery. Other options may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy or a combination of both. Clinical trials for pancreatic cancer might give a chance to try new targeted therapy, chemotherapy drugs, immunotherapy treatments or vaccines. Clinical trials can’t cure the tumour completely this may cause unexpected side effects. Palliative care is specialized medical care that focuses on providing relief from pain.

Symptoms

Symptoms cannot be identified until and unless the tumour is in advanced stage. This may include with:

• Blood clots

• Fatigue

• Dark-coloured urine

• Light-coloured stools

• Jaundice

• Abdominal pain

• Weightloss

This may increase risk in pancreatic cancer
