The field of our endeavours is all matters related to Clinical Pharmaceutical Practice, Pharmaceutical Care Regulations, Pharmaceutical Care in hospital and community pharmacy, pharmacotherapy, pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacogenomics, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacoeconomics, clinical pharmacokinetics, genomics experimental research, health education, and hospital pharmacy administration, drug utilization evaluation review, medication safety, Drug and Poison Information Services and health services research.
We encourage publications that have methodological rigour which is vital to ensure that conclusions reached from publications contained in the journal are valid and reliable. Peer review remains a vital component of our assessment of submitted articles. We believe that accepted articles are often improved by peer review after referees’ comments and criticisms are dealt with; this explicit appraisal process also helps to prompt trust of the reader. I hope to continue to receive a large number of very well selected papers coming from all the different pharmacy fields, in addition to clinical data and pharmaceutical socioeconomics research, related to our favorite topics.
It is vital we have a good balance of different article type within the journal. I am keen to encourage publication of high-quality evidencebased guidelines in JPCHS. Such articles are widely read, can have major impact on pharmacy clinical practice, and also tend to be highly cited to the benefit of our Impact Factor. The journal also has the potential to (re-) shape thinking on important concepts in pharmaceutical care, and here ‘new horizons’ articles have a particular role.
I am fortunate to be supported by a highly effective team; including Mr. David Cobb in the editorial office who ‘pulls the whole show together’. The current editorial office works incredibly hard particularly in the assessment and processing of submitted articles. The journal is also backed up by a group of experts on our international editorial board, which comprises individuals of the highest standing in pharmaceutical care; we are fortunate to have them as ambassadors for the journal.
Lastly I should thank all our submitting authors, who have chosen JPCHS as the journal they would like to publish in. The willingness and expertise of the professionals who serve as reviewers are essential to maintaining technical and editorial standards. So it is with great appreciation and gratitude that I offer my thanks to each of the peer reviewers whose efforts help to ensure that this journal becomes one of the promising new Pharmacy Journals. I look forward to a successful and rewarding first year of the journal as Editor-in-Chief and welcome any comments or suggestions you might have on how we can continue to improve our journal.Once more, on behalf of the editorial board, I welcome you to this journal – your journal! We look forward to your submissions and to publishing your research work. Ultimately, we will improve more lives and, consequently, our communities.
