This structured process evaluates potential risks associated with biological agents, such as pathogens and hazardous materials, and determines appropriate control measures to minimize these risks effectively.
Safeguarding public health
Medical facilities, ranging from hospitals to research laboratories, handle various biological materials daily. These materials may include infectious agents, toxins, or Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO). Conducting a thorough biosafety risk assessment helps identify potential hazards associated with these materials. By understanding these risks, healthcare facilities can implement robust procedures to prevent interaction and transmission of infectious diseases among patients, staff, and the community.
Protecting healthcare workers
Healthcare workers are on the frontline of exposure to biological hazards. Proper biosafety risk assessment ensures that healthcare facilities provide a safe working environment for their staff.
