Abstract

Introduction: Infertility is extremely common, affecting approximately one in four couples, and associated with high rates of stress, anxiety and depression. In fact today we have 187 million people diagnosed with unexplained infertility. It is unclear if pre-morbid mental health issues increases infertility risk, although recent evidence suggests that psychological intervention improves conception rates. Complementary Therapies (CT) reduce anxiety in sub-fertile women, it is showing great promise that CT leads to increased conception rates of 55% or greater and produces positive results within a six months timescale.
Methods: This is a description of a CT intervention for infertility. The proprietary intervention is a combination of reflexotherapy, profound visualization techniques, and the art of revision, meditation, and psychological discovery. Three case studies will be presented to illustrate the interventional process involved.
Results: Of 1,374 clients, all diagnosed with unexplained infertility, attending the clinic over a 13-years period. Only three dropped out of the program to date 1,371 conceptions. 1,277 safe healthy deliveries with 100% live birth rate. All births to date have been normal vaginal deliveries. 94 patients are currently pregnant and due to give birth in the next six months.
I have developed a method and mastered the art of helping clients overcome infertility to conceive in an easy effortless way avoiding further unnecessary trauma. Everything happens for a reason. There is a very specific reason for each and every individual case of infertility. Three cases will be discussed, each of whom had unsuccessfully been trying to conceive for 6 years to 14 years with multiple rounds of unsuccessful in-vitro fertilization. Each of these clients had successful deliveries of healthy babies after less than a year of utilizing this CT approach, including imagery use, visualization techniques, post graduate level reflexology and mental rehearsal.
Conclusion: This description of a reflexotherapy-based CT approach to infertility has thus far had a high live birth rate and shows promise as a novel holistic approach to infertility. This technique is increasingly proving reliable.

Case study 1

Niamh, a 41-years old trying to conceive for 14 years, she had been diagnosed with: severe PCOS, severe endometriosis, severe migraines, and adult acne—aggressive spots and boils on her face, neck and chest. She had a Cyst the size of a golf ball, she was on a waiting list for surgery, no cycle, didn’t have a period for 13 months, 7 failed rounds of IVF, 3 failed cycles of clomid, strict diet, prescription medication for pain, for sleeping and for bringing her cycle on. Niamh was taking over the counter painkillers and supplements, 15 tablets per day. Breakfast was a handful of pills. A friend recommended she come see me. She was in pain, excruciating pain. She was angry. She was bitter, with a locked jaw and such a stern look in her eyes but she was determined to have a baby. Even though she was told she had between 2%-5% chances of conceiving, if conception occurred. Niamh would be flagged as a high risk pregnancy.

Recap

Niamh hasn’t had a period in 13 months, 7 failed rounds of IVF, has a long list of diagnosed conditions, less than 5% chance of conceiving.

Niamh conceived naturally in four months of working together.

• After the first session her cycle returned.

• After the second session she noticed a vast difference in the number of painkillers and sleeping tablets she needed. (She had been flagged for buying so many painkillers. Niamh asked family & friends to purchase them).

• After the third session, something major shifted within her, she felt a physical shift in her body.

• There is never ever a physical ailment, disease or disorder, something like pregnancy not happening or holding without an emotional tie in the background.

• What surfaced for Niamh? When Niamh was 7 her father upped and left one day. Niamh returned from school, and he wasn’t there. She didn’t hear from her father or see him for years. When he did return. Niamh went between her father and her mother, always feeling stuck in the middle. She never felt she could say anything. She didn’t want to upset her mother; she was upset enough as it was. She didn’t want to upset her father; he was guilt ridden enough for leaving. Niamh had internalized all this pain, all this anger, all this resentment, but the biggest thing that emerged during treatment was she actually blamed herself. Niamh felt responsible and thought she was the reason her father upped and left.

• I asked Niamh to write 3 letters one directly to her father, voicing all the things she was too afraid to say. Another directly to her mother, voicing all the upset she felt and thought she couldn’t say. The third letter, I asked Niamh to write directly to herself, a letter of forgiveness. It was time to take herself off the hook. I asked her to voice exactly how she felt. “Pour out all the things you wanted to say but felt you couldn’t or were too afraid to say. Keep writing and writing until you cannot write anymore and then burn the letters when you are done”.

• The asked Niamh to write a letter of forgiveness to herself. She was not to blame for her father’s choice, nor was she to blame for her parents separating. As she wrote this powerful letter. Something deep within her shifted. She felt something physically release. Niamh said “It was a wonderful feeling of release”. It unleased a surge of energy within her.

• Niamh was called in for her pre-op a week later. During the scan it was discovered the golf ball size cyst was no longer present. There wasn’t even a trace of it. Niamh no longer needed surgery.

• Over the course of our sessions together the pain and the symptoms lessoned and lessoned. She no longer needed to reach for painkillers the way she used to. Four months later Niamh was pregnant naturally. She was completely off pain killers and sleeping tablets.

• Behind that wall of anger there was a heart of gold waiting to emerge. Her face had softened, her heart opened. She was a totally different person. Niamh smiled now, she laughed, and she even joked! Niamh loved being pregnant, and sailed through her pregnancy. Not even one day’s morning sickness. Even though Niamh had been flagged as a high risk pregnancy, due to her previous history, and being a geriatric mother, and possible preeclampsia. Niamh experienced none of that and had an easeful, natural vaginal delivery to a healthy baby boy.

• Through our time together we did deep profound Visualizations.

• Reflexotherapy—post gratitude level of Reflexology. Reflexotherapy is a treatment of discovery, allowing you go deeper, rather than just working in a physical pain or symptom. It’s gets you asking, why do you have this pain? What’s this pain connected to? What’s it related to? Manny Aha moments are experienced along the way.

• My unique proprietary method.

• The art or regression.

• The art of revision.

• (EFT) Emotional Freedom Technique.

• Powerful letters written and burnt.

• Daily gratitude, Niamh worked on accepting, loving and forgiving herself.

Case study 2

And then there was Ellie. Let’s talk about Ellie, she was totally different to Niamh, she didn’t have endometriosis or PCOS. She had a very healthy 28 day cycle. The only problem being she had her period every month when she wanted to have a baby. Ellie was 38, 11 years trying to conceive started when she was 27, young, healthy but diagnosed with “unexplained infertility”. Healthy regular periods. All fabulous except she’s getting it every month!

They went through 11 devastating failed rounds of IVF. They remortgaged their home 3 times to fund all those rounds of IVF. Their relationship was hanging in a shoestring. Her husband was working around the clock.

Let’s just take a moment and think about this, can you imagine: The raging hormones! The emotional rollercoaster, the hope, the despair, the loss, the paperwork for the mortgages all mixed together. Relationship hanging on a shoestring and Husband working round the clock.

The emotional tie in the background, during our first treatment it emerged Ellie was adopted (being adopted is one of the four A’s of infertility I discovered)

• She had no issue being adopted. She loved the family she was adopted into. Loved her brothers and sisters. She knew from a very young age she was adopted so it wasn’t a big shock in her life.

• But on some deep subconscious level, Ellie held a fear unbeknownst that her body was listening to and protecting her from.

• Ellie feared she wouldn’t be able to bond with her child the way she felt on some level her mother couldn’t bond with her.

• Everything changed when she had that revelation. Ellie became pregnant that month. Everything happens for a reason.

Case study 3

Then we have Laura, trying to conceive for three years. Diagnosed with “unexplained infertility” possibly age related as she was 39, 3 failed cycles of IUI. They did acupuncture, was told they would need IVF, when a friend recommended she come see me.

During the first session it emerged that she was married 12 years prior of meeting her current partner. She had married her high school sweetheart.

They were on honeymoon when her husband caught a cold, which developed into "man flu". They joked about his man flu as it continued to longer after they returned from the honeymoon. A month to the day of the wedding, he dropped dead. Super fit and healthy, no one saw it coming. Man-flu turned out to be a rare form of cancer.

• Such an emotional impact in her life, she spent months, day after day sitting in her wedding dress rewatching their wedding video.

• 12 years later she met someone, she never expected to meet anyone again. A year into that relationship, they wished to have a baby and had been trying to conceive for three years.

• During our first session. Laura could feel her husband’s presence, she could smell his aftershave. She had a vision of him holding a baby. Which he passed over to her. His way of giving her his blessing.

• She realized in that moment, not only had she vowed to marry him but she vowed to have his baby. When life didn’t work out that way, she didn’t realize that vow was so deeply held. His blessing changed everything. In fact, she became pregnant that very weekend.

• Everything happens for a reason. There is never ever a physical ailment, something like pregnancy not happening or holding, without an emotional tie in the background. When that emotional tie is discovered everything changes, everything is healable, everything is overcomeable.

• The blessing of Covid. Everything happens for a reason. It forced me to grow & evolve, learning another way. I had to pivot my treatments, clients still needed me.

• Pre-Covid I did one-to-one treatments.

• During lockdown we were closed. I learned and discovered how to fine tune the true essence of the Jen Method via zoom.

• The end result is that the woman using my method become pregnant quicker in a far more easeful, effortless way which is amazing and is the opposite of what the world is experiencing right now. This method is needed.

• In the world today as rates of infertility, miscarriage & still births have vastly risen since Covid. I have seen in my practice of late. The trauma people experienced delivering a baby alone during Covid is already coming into effect when wanting to expand their family. Affecting people wanting to conceive a second or third child. Unexplained infertility is a current issue for those wishing to expand their family when they conceived naturally previously.

• It’s time now for this outdated term “unexplained infertility” to be released. Let’s start a campaign to abolish the term unexplained infertility. Unexplained infertility is a term that came into practice in the 1950’s. That’s over seventy years ago. Today 187 million people are currently diagnosed with “unexplained infertility”. When people hear this phrase they lose hope and everyone stops looking for answers.

Conclusion

Everything happens for a reason. It’s time now to share the insightful knowledge of how to discover and uncover answers for each and every individual case. A method, proven by results, which can even change medical outcomes.
