The Cuba state is through the great personality, Professor Dr. Sergio Andres Perez Barrero, known worldwide by eminent and devoted professionals who work indefatigably for the understanding and prevention of suicide. Much of our inspiration is originated from the visionary and revolutionary decisions and actions by Professor Sergio Perez. He is one of the prominent foreground figures in Suicidology since, among other reasons, he has taken initiatives in founding the Suicidology Section of the World Psychiatry Association (WPA) that represents one of the absolute top priority fields in health care around the world, and also in creating the demographic World Suicidology Net that comprises more than five hundred registered members from 71 countries on all continents.

Professor Sergio Perez is currently engaged by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) as the Temporal Advisor for suicide prevention, and he is the National Representative for Cuba in the worldwide International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP).

We are thousands of scientists, doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, community builders, anthropologists and others who are engaged in activities inspired by Professor Sergio Perez among others, and, we are very keen that he can persist as a free and vigorous mentor for continued development of the suicide prevention worldwide.

Congratulations, Cuba, for having such a prominent frontman in your country! Give him his righteous support in his great acts for a better health care in the world!
