Introduction

Milk powder, also known as powdered milk or dried milk, has been a staple in households worldwide for decades. Its versatility and numerous benefits make it a popular choice for consumers, whether they are looking for a convenient alternative to fresh milk or seeking to enhance the nutritional content of their recipes [1]. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the origins, production process, uses, and health benefits of milk powder. The history of milk powder dates back to the late 19th century when the first successful attempts were made to dehydrate milk. This was primarily done to preserve milk for longer periods without refrigeration and to make it more transportable. Over time, advancements in technology have led to more efficient production methods, resulting in high-quality milk powder available on the market today [2,3]. The production process typically involves evaporating the moisture from fresh milk until it becomes a dry powder. This can be achieved through various methods such as spray drying or roller drying. It is lower in fat content compared to whole milk powder but still contains essential nutrients such as protein and calcium. Buttermilk powder is derived from the liquid leftover after churning butter. It has a tangy flavor and is often used in baking to add moisture and flavor to baked goods [8-10]. Milk powder is often used as a base ingredient in nutritional supplements and meal replacement shakes due to its high protein and calcium content. Milk powder offers numerous health benefits, making it a valuable addition to a balanced diet. Milk powder is a good source of essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, vitamins A and D, and phosphorus, all of which are important for maintaining overall health.
