One of the key strategies for supporting the health and recovery of fish populations is the use of hatcheries-facilities designed to breed, rear, and release fish into the wild. Hatcheries play a vital role in replenishing fish stocks, supporting biodiversity, and helping to ensure that fisheries remain productive and sustainable for future generations. This article explores the important role of hatcheries in sustainable fisheries management and how they contribute to the conservation of marine and freshwater ecosystems.
Hatcheries and stock enhancement
