Aldosteronism is a condition in which there is high and excessive secretion of aldosterone, which disturbs the balance of sodium, potassium, and water in the blood and so leads to high blood pressure. Primary aldosteronism is a hormonal disorder that leads to high blood pressure. It occurs when the adrenal glands produce too much of a hormone called aldosterone. The adrenal glands produce a number of essential hormones, including aldosterone.
