Churg-Strauss Syndrome

Churg-Strauss syndrome is a disease characterized by inflammation of the blood vessels. Churg-Strauss syndrome occurs in patients with a history of asthma or allergy. Symptoms of Churg-Strauss syndrome include fatigue, weight loss, nasal passage inflammation, numbness, and weakness. Nonspecific findings associated with Churg-Strauss syndrome typically include flu-like symptoms, such as fever, a general feeling of weakness and fatigue (malaise), loss of appetite (anorexia), weight loss, and muscle pain (myalgia).Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), formerly known as Churg-Strauss, is an extremely rare disease – there are only 2 to 5 new cases a year per 1 million people. EGPA is caused by inflammation (swelling) that occurs in certain types of cells in blood or in tissues.
