Mucosal Immunology is the official publication of the Society for Mucosal Immunology. It aims to provide a forum for both basic and clinical scientists to discuss all aspects of immunity and inflammation involving mucosal tissues.Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), are among the most common autoimmune diseases. Collectively, they affect about 10 million patients in the United States,One example is the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), which is caused by the HIV virus. In cases of immune system over activity, the body attacks and damages its own tissues (autoimmune diseases). Immune deficiency diseases decrease the body's ability to fight invaders, causing vulnerability to infections,Signs and symptoms of primary immunodeficiency can include: Frequent and recurrent pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, ear infections, meningitis or skin infections. Inflammation and infection of internal organs. Blood disorders, such as low platelet counts or anemia There are two types of immunodeficiency disorders: those you are born with (primary), and those that are acquired (secondary).
