Vector Borne Diseases

Vector-borne diseases are infections transmitted by the bite of infected arthropod species, such as mosquitoes, ticks, triatomine bugs, sandflies, and blackflies. Arthropod vectors are cold-blooded (ectothermic) and thus especially sensitive to climatic factors. virtually every human being is at risk of being infected with the vector-borne disease. The number of people infected with malaria worldwide is 265 million, lymphatic filariasis is 120 million, and Chagas disease 10 million.
