Abstract :

Exploring novel and efficient synthetic methodology in water is long pursuing by organic chemists. 1,1-Dichloro-2- nitroethene (DCNE) is a reactive chemical attacking the electron-rich atoms, having the similar reaction behavior with phosgene. DCNE can be readily prepared by the nitration of 1,1-dicloroethylene which is massively used in polymers science. The strong electro-withdrawing nitro makes the C=C double bond highly polarized and it?s versatile ability for heterocycle construction and nitroacetylization was investigated in water. From DCNE, 1,3,4-Oxadiazole, 1,4,2-dithiazoles, 1,3-thiazetidines and quinazolin-4-ones can be constructed with high efficiency. DCNE can also be used a nitroacetylization reagents for some amine derivatives in water. These eco-friendly protocols featured high yields, purification simplicity, water based reaction medium, energy efficiency and no addition of catalysts.
