Basal cell carcinoma is one of the more frequent skin cancers. Conventional surgical treatment is at times extremely aggressive and mutilating, leaving the patient cancer free but disfigured. Local treatments either with anti-mitotics or herbal preparations like Black Salve can be mutilating too and are often reported as painful. We present a simple local method, using the application of a very common plant found everywhere and available all year around, that is painless, cheap, has a proven clinical effectiveness, can be prepared and applied by the patient at home, hence not putting any burden on the public health system, selectively destroys the cancer cells and in the cases it is not successful, does not preclude the use of more aggressive methods. We suggest using this technique as the first line of approach for BCCs.
