Many surveys and reports predict a major shift in future labor market which will replace human workers with robots, autonomous machines and intelligent software systems powered by AI. This replacement could be anywhere between 30% to 70% of jobs done currently by humans within next 20 years. This change is different from other major societal transitions like the Industrial Revolution which created different jobs and the labor force was able to adopt. This presentation is about exploring the question- Can additive printing technologies save jobs from AI driven automation? Additive printing technologies has a potential to play a critical role in creation of a new group of creative population around the world and complement the automation of common labor. It will focus on the conditions for such a co-existence and how we can chart the future accordingly. danderson@sfc.edu
