Abstract :

The last decade enormous advances have been made in treating cancer. Slowly cancer is going into the direction of becoming a chronic disease. Quality of life and maintaining that for a long period becomes essential. That means beside cancer cure there have to be a wider focus on cancer care, which forms of care can be included to reach this goal and which characteristics are important. In many countries there is still a polarized discussion about complementary care modalities and cancer. In other countries some of these modalities are incorporated in clinical settings, what purpose does this serve and how these protocols are developed and are integrated in mainstream cancer care. This topic will be the focus of my presentation.
