Abstract :

Knowledge of both normal and abnormal anatomy of the root canal system dictates the parameters for executing root canal therapy. It can directly affect the outcome of the endodontic therapy. Missed extra roots and root canals are a major reason for the failure of root canal treatment. Removal of a separated instrument may become impossible or undesirable. Bypassing the instrument is an alternative conservative procedure if retrieval of the instrument fails, leaving the instrument in place and attempting to bypass the instrument
