Recently, eyelid tumours are noticed to be seen more frequent than before in Sudan. This necessitates casting more light on this serious health issue, together with sharing knowledge with others. Place of study was Khartoum and Umdurman hospitals. It is noticed that 2/3 of patients came within 6 month to 1 year of the appearance of the swelling; however, it was reported to grow rapidly during this short period. This is specially so with the malignant types. The clinical presentation of the malignant types is noticed to follow an aggressive and rapidly growing course, with exhibition of poorly differentated histopathological findings and atypical cells. The affection of children reflects the seriousness of the problem. Women are notice to present more frequently than men with both benign and malignant tumours. This probably reflects the socio-economic changes that led to women working more outdoors, exposed to sun light, earning money to support their families. The increased use of harmful chemical cosmetic compounds without medical advice can be attributed as a cause as well. The geographical distribution cannot be used as an accurate measure of the assessment of this health problem. Sudan is a multi-ethnic country, thus more genetically and environmentally based studies need to be carried out. As a conclusion, more studies need to be carried out to help understand this tendency of eyelid tumours to rapidly grow and follow an aggressive course of the disease.
