Safety of the street vendor foods is an important aspect in the field of nutritional security. This study is a one-time observational cross-sectional, field survey-based study undertaken to know the consciousness level of individuals about food quality and hygiene of street Vendor Food and restaurant food. The study was conducted in Aligarh city in India. Fifty individuals selected randomly from the study population. Detail of the population and houses of the area were taken from Aligarh Municipal Corporation. Face to face interview was performed using a structured pre-tested questionnaire. The study revealed that the students who were Graduate among different educational groups had more consumption of street food as compared to restaurant food. Males had more consumption of street food as compared to female. It was found that the sixty-four percent of individuals were consciousness about the hygiene of the street vendor food while thirty-six were not consciousness. Quality consciousness for food is also eighty-two percent, however, eighteen percent were not quality consciousness. Chi-square test is significant as the p-value is 0.04. It can be concluded from the above study that street vendor food consumption among students was more as compared to restaurant food. Quality consciousness for food was more in comparison to food hygiene. Males and students preferred to avail street vendor food while workers are attending restaurant but occasionally.

The author has been teaching UG and PG courses from 1993 onwards and his subjects include Environment, Food & Nutrition and Communicable Diseases. The author is currently working as a Professor & Chairman, D/O Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive & Social Medicine) in the faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU, Aligarh (UP). The teacher has more than 7 books & Chapters and 55 papers to his credit. He is also working as Nodal Officer WHO (NPSP). He has successfully completed refresher courses from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, University of Delhi, Delhi and AMU, Aligarh (UP) India.
