Abstract :

Radicular cysts are the most common odontogenic lesions of jaws; they arise from epithelial residues in the periodontal ligament as a result of inflammation. They are considered rare in the primary dentition comprising only 0.5 to 3.3% of the total number of radicular cysts in both primary and permanent dentitions. The aim of this scientific communication is to highlight the advantages of surgical decompression as a conservative approach for radicular cysts related to deciduous teeth. Since decompression consists only of opening a much smaller surgical window than surgical enucleation, it is considered more comfortable for young patients because it avoids general anesthesia, paresthesia, loss of bone support and further exposure to ionizing radiations.
