Abstract :

Dry eye disease is one of the most common eye conditions that every ophthalmologist and pharmacist face in their daily practice. The history of dry eye management is very interesting. Our approach has changed over the years from merely treating dry eye symptoms towards addressing the root problem and the pathophysiogy of the disease. The International Dry Eye workshop reports (DEWS) has changed the way we diagnose, manage, and predict prognosis of dry eye disease. The future holds a very promising therapy to dry eye patients. I will cover the past, current, and future therapies of dry eye disease with focus on medicinal treatment.
