Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Vitex agnus-castus on improving sexual health. Design: A double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel trial was performed over 16 weeks in 100 eligible latepremenopausal or postmenopausal women experiencing sexual dysfunction and other menopausal symptoms in Shahrood. Results: Data analysis on an intent-to-treat basis found no significant differences between the two groups before intervention. There was significant improvements across the treatment phase in both the placebo and active treatment groups for improving sexual health (p<0.02) using paired sample t-tests. Conclusion: The result of this study suggested a potentially significant improvement in sexual health among premenopausal women. However, further research is needed through a randomized, controlled trial dedicated to investigation of these symptoms.
