Abstract :

Over the last several years, the microcannula has been gaining in popularity when performing injectable fillers in face. Utilizing a microcannula in a fanning fashion, injections can safely be performed in the cheeks, tear troughs,nasolabial folds, melomental folds, lips, chin, nose, and temples. The blunt cannula is advantageous in that it is far safer than traditional sharp needle techniques, fewer injection ports, less edema, and virtually no ecchymoses when performed correctly. Furthermore, patient satisfaction utilizing the blunt cannula is far high. Disadvantages include a learning curve, disposable costs, and limited results when treating fine rhytids. Conclusions : The increased safety, diminished edema, diminished bruising, and increased patient comfort make the microcannula technique an attractive alternative for both novice and experienced injectors of fillers.

Biography :

Kian Karimi is the Facial Plastic Surgeon specializing in rhinoplasty, surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the face, and reconstruction of skin cancer defects. As medical director of Cosmofrance Inc., he is responsible for training physicians and nurses on state-of-the-art aesthetic techniques including bruiseless injection of aesthetic fillers using a blunt microcannula (DermaSculpt) and facial rejuvenation / treatment of acne scars / treatment of sun damage using a high-speed microneedling device (Dr. Dermic Pen).
