Abstract :

Natural constituents during growing or maturing time of plants provide unlimited opportunities for new drug and the useful components in the plants are hypericin, aspirin and many others compounds. Active substances obtained from a plant by a process such as drying, crushing, extraction or purification. Herbal drug and poly herbal formulations have different forms such as tablets, capsules, tinctures and syrups. Iran with 1.64 million km2 areas, climate is diverse, ranging from arid and semi-arid, to subtropical along the Caspian coast and the northern forests. Till date scientists in Iran identified 10000 plants species, out of these, approximately 1000 are medicinal and aromatic plants. So countries having rich medicinal plants content can have a major role in production not only raw plant materials but also processed herbal medicines to produces natural products. In this presentation discusses those plants for drug and cosmetic and traditional uses like Tanacetum parthenium, is a daisy family Asteraceae, is a flowering plant, native to Eurasia, specifically the Balkan Peninsula, Anatolia and the Iran, but cultivation has spread it around the world. The active ingredients in this plants is parthenolide, its flower is traditionally used to prevent headaches, digestive problems, controlling bacterial and fungal. Aloe vera was collected from different ecological zoon in Iran. Plants are used to prepare drugs out of leaf and teas, beverages, jellies and used as a medicinal herb to treat stomach ache. The results of few researches show that growing some herbal plants in Iran have many advantages compare to other regions of the world. For example cultivation of some of them in Iran produced the highest herb yield accumulated the highest amount of essential oil content.
