The national health and morbidity survey Malaysia (NHMS 2011, 2015) findings have shown that female adults are one of the high-risk groups that require specific obesity intervention. This paper discusses issues and challenges of the- My Body is Fit and Fabulous at home (MyBFF@home) study, which focused on the weight loss intervention among low income obese housewives. The aims of the MyBFF@home were to develop a weight loss intervention package and to evaluate the effectiveness of this intervention among obese housewives aged 18-59 years old. The MyBFF@home was conducted in 2 phases and involved mixed quantitative and qualitative methods. Phase-1 (development of the intervention package) includes scoping review, construction and development of initial package, in-depth interviews and pre-test of the intervention package. Phase-2 (intervention) was a quasi-experimental which involved 6 months of weight loss intervention and 6 months of weight sustainability. Participants were recruited from 14 low-cost community flats around Klang Valley, Malaysia and a total of 328 housewives (intervention group=169, control group=159) participated in the study. Control group was given 7 series of womenâ??s health seminar; while the intervention group received a weight loss intervention package which consists of individual counseling on diet, physical activity, self-monitoring activities at home and group exercise (pillow dumb bell). Changes in the body composition, cardiometabolic markers, body fat percentage, body pain, quality of life, health literacy level and symptoms related to weight loss during the intervention will be also discussed.
