Introduction: The prevalence of obesity has increased worldwide over the past decade. Some disordered eating behaviours may be important factors in the prevalence of obesity. Mindfulness approaches, such as non-judgmental awareness of the present moment, are described extensively in the scientific literature as effective interventions in decreasing psychological symptoms, including depression and anxiety and also in reducing binge-type eating in obese people. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mindful-eating behaviour in an Iranian population. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 200 women who attended 5 athletic gyms and met the inclusion criteria in Ahvaz city in June to August, 2015. Mindful eating behavior was measured using Mindful eating questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the tool was done before in an Iranian society. Data were analyzed using the SPSS version 19.0. Results were analyzed using descriptive statistic and chi-square tests. The statistical significant level defined by p��0.05. Results: The mean age of the women was 27.99�±10.83 years and the mean age of subscales was: Awareness, 3.10�±0.32; Disinhibition, 2.64�±0.54; Emotional response, 3.27�±0.32; External cues, 3.57�±0.56, and Distraction were, 2.39�±0.45. Conclusion: The external cues with the most average score and distraction with the lowest average score were the most factors that effect on mindfulness behavior in Iranian women. Mindfulness-based counseling regard to nutritional behavior especially regards to role of external cues for treatment of eating disorders, overweight and obesity is suggested.
