Method: 69 labs confirmed cases of JE admitted to hospital were included from July till November, 2011 and later followed for neurological complications from 2012 till 2014. Results: Of the 69 patients, 9 died in hospital. 7 were untraceable. The rest 53 were followed up through home visits. 8 had recovered fully (Liverpool Outcome Score = 5). Final study group = 45. 16 developed ADHD/behavioural disorders, while 7 developed cranial nerve complications. Two had aphasia, 3 each developed hemiplegia\muscle powder weakness. Mental retardation was observed in 9 who concomitantly showed other signs of neurological deficits. Out of 45 study group, 36 were school-going children. Of these, 13 were school drop-outs as they could not cope up with study pressure post- JE infection.
