Online Optom Learning Series (OOLS) is an initiative by some optometrist friends to create an online learning platform. This is a personal initiative with NO financial interest. All optometrists and optometry students are welcome to join and attend sessions online and/or watch the recorded version later. The event is managed by - S.K. Optics (India). The series was initiated on 1st April 2020 and ongoing, where we have a session to discuss current topics in optometry, interesting cases, tips and tricks on eye examination, and many more. Optometry students and optometrist from around the globe majorly from India, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, etc. The series has completed more than hundred session and is still ongoing as two session a week OOLS also is an accredited CE provider recognized by national councils various countries. The talk will be focus on the inception, milestones and future plans for OOLS and would also openup doors for optometrists who are not yet aware about this to take advantage of the knowledge shared during the sessions.
Fakhruddin Shamsheer Barodawala is a clinician and optometry lecturer at SEGi University, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. He completed his graduation and postgraduation at the Lotus College of Optometry, Mumbai, India, after which he pursued his career in academics and research. Fakhruddin has been associated with SEGi University, Malaysia for over 4 years, involved in teaching contact lenses, dispensing optics, low vision and advanced optometry care. He was awarded the is a Fellow of IACLE (FIACLE) and a Fellow of ASCO-India (Dispensing Optics) in the year 2017. He has a few publications in the field of public health and contact lenses and has presented papers at national and international conferences. He with his fellow team mates started an online learning platform known as Online Optom Learning Series, which conducts webinars every weekend for Optomety students and Optometrists from all over the world and have completed more than 100 sessions since its inception in April 2020.
