This program is presented by an Attorney from the U.S.A. about a famous case he handled. The case featured the powerful story of an “All American” college student who was on vacation with his fraternity brothers when a drunk driver crashed into his body while he was walking. His parents were called in the middle of the night and asked to consent to organ donation due to their son’s severe traumatic brain injury and other catastrophic physical injuries. The 21-year-old college student lost 100% of his ability to function physically and cognitively. His Glasgow Coma Score was a “3” on a scale from 3-15. He was unresponsive to all physical and other stimuli, had severe brain damage, and both of his legs were crushed below the knees. The audience will witness powerful before and after photographs of this student. The “after” photographs depict the student in a coma on full life-support. There appeared to be no hope for improvement with existing neurological, surgical or pharmacology medicine. The doctors and family decided to approach treating this 21-yearold patient’s “whole person” disabilities with a most aggressive Physical Medicine and Rehab protocol, which changed everything. The remainder of the program educates the audience about the extraordinarily positive benefit of Physical Medicine and Rehab. from the perspective of the family and the patient, while also providing the audience with needed tools to help them in their own professional and personal capacities in their dealings with patients with severe disabilities.
