Cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, despite the research efforts to explain the molecular background and for developing proper-targeted therapies with minimum side effects. In cancer, two opponents, the cancer cells and the immune cells, are key therapeutic targets for the researchers in regenerative medicine and stem cell future. The stem cells role is nowadays considered the important protective approach in cancer, along with surgery and chemo and radiotherapy. Important players of immune system natural killer (NK) cells, play a critical role in defense against pathogens and tumors. The cell replacement in cancer is due to the memory is a hallmark of the adaptive immune system. But the problem was the short age of NK, slow response and aggressiveness of cancer cells. The scientists have proved the evidence and characteristics of NK cell memory and mechanisms involved in the generation and survival of these cells to fight against the cancer cells providing a new hope to make a reality” for prevention of viral and malignant diseases.
