Transformation of capacity to care in students of helping professions in the course of vocational training

Abstract :

Aim: The research is aimed at lightening the phenomenon needed to create a safe, healthy, positive and developing environment- the phenomenon of concern in connection with the search for ecological validity of methods of training and professional selection of specialists in the field of psychological care. The results of comparative analysis of manifestations of care at different stages of professional development are presented. Methodology & Theoretic Orientation: The practice of caring for others is one of the basic mechanisms in a situation of psychological support, caregiving, helping, but common human factors are emanating from the very laws of human evolution even fundamental mental law and important professional competence. Projective technique based on achievement motivation test modified by Magomed-Eminov, used to identify characteristics of ability to care for others and its change in the course of professional formation in university students. Subjects were 80 (31 men, 49 women): 20-psychology students�¢���� 1-t course (average 17, five years); 20-psychologists graduates (average 22.5); 20-other specialties students of 1-t courses (18.5 years) and; 20-graduates of other specialties (23). Results: Significant differences in expression of components of care between psychology and other specialties students, also between psychologists of first courses and graduates (by the category of instrumental activity, involvement in situation, imagination) is evident. Vocational training diminishes negative emotional involvement and avoidance of care situation. Based on professional training, as a result of cultural-activity work of mastering the individual experience of psychological science and practice, the ability to care is transformed from emotional experience and imagination into actionable, active forms of professional assistance in personal professional competence.

Savina Olga is an expert in “Self-identity model in youth and adolescence in the context of dynamic multicultural environment”. Being an Assistant Professor at Moscow State University, she contributes to the development of training programs for students of helping professions and also contributes to the research of cultural-activity paradigm in psychology and meaning theory.
