Throughout the years policies have changed and new researches have shown the efficiency of fluorides but also their downside. Ever since the 1940’s, fluorides and water fluoridation have changed the prevalence of tooth decay and considered as one of the best ways to prevent dental caries. But knowing how fluorides can affect our health, a change in recommended levels could be necessary, an excess of it could lead to fluorosis. Aims: The purpose of this report is to examine the use of fluorides and its correlation with fluorosis. We should consider if our guidelines are appropriate, or if there’s a change to be done when it comes to the use of fluorides. Evaluate the risks and the benefits of using fluorides.
