Purpose: The efficacy of two vortex vein occlusion in treating age-related macula degeneration was studied. Methods: fourteen eyes with intermediate and advanced form of age-related macular degeneration were treated with the occlusion of the inferior vortex veins and studied with preoperative and postoperative BCVA, tonometry, visual field, contrast sensitivity, fluorescein angiography, ICG, OCT and echoDoppler of the ophthalmic artery Results: At three months we had near BCVA improvement from 11J to 9.4J (statistically significant), reduction of intraocular pressure (0,5mmHg), in all cases,a modification of the ICG vascular staining and distribution, two peripheral inferior haemorrhagic choroidal detachments (they completely reabsorbed within 3 months) Conclusion: At three months the procedure didnt show worsening of functional parameters and neither long term complications. We need a longer follow up and looking forward to see the results at 6 months and 1 year and 2 years of the procedure.
