EP Collar
she was appointed as Chemical Engineering Assistant teacher at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Chemistry Faculty of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
Dr. E. P. Collar joined Spanish Council for Scientific Research (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) staff, in 1990 in the Polymer Science and Technology Institute (Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros, ICTP) as Scientific Tenure. She received an Industrial Chemistry Grade, 1982, and a Doctorate in Industrial Chemistry, 1986, both from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Her Doctoral Thesis dealt with the study of the recycling possibilities of the light plastic waste fraction coming from the Municipal Solid Waste streams from big cities, like Madrid. She accepted a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in polymer blends from the CSIC and after that, she was appointed as Chemical Engineering Assistant teacher at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Chemistry Faculty of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. As CSIC's staff member she worked at the Polymer Engineering Group (GIP), founded in 1982 by Dr. O. Laguna, first under the Technology of Polymers Research Unit (1990-1994); further at the Polymer Physics and Engineering Department (1994-2010); and from 2010 up to now, under the Polymer Chemistry and Properties Department. Her research areas of interest mainly deal with polymers and environment under the general frame of Heterogeneous Materials based on Polymers as a whole, or as a part, participating on seventeen public funds research projects and eighteen private funds contracts. Dr. E. P. Collar has supervised six doctoral theses and five post-graduate ones between 1990 and 1998. Dr. E. P. Collar is author o co-author on more than twenty chapters on books, on about a fifty/fifty Spanish/English ratio; and more than one hundred of research papers most of them on SCI Journals. About Plastics and Environment, she is co-author in two currently active patents, and also authored around fifty technical reports and was the Technical Director of the Physical and Mechanical Properties Laboratory under the successful ISO17025 Accreditation Project for the CSIC/ICTP's Laboratories, which was running from 2001 up to 2008.
