Biography

Fabien Gosselet is Associate Professor in the Blood-brain barrier (BBB) laboratory located in Lens (France). His Ph.D thesis in the biggest cancer hospital in Europe, the Institute Gustave Roussy in Villejuif (France), consisted to characterize involvement of the Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) signalling pathway in normal human skin keratinocytes and in tumorigenesis processes. Since 2006, he has focused his research activity on the physiology of the endothelial cells and brain pericytes, both composing the Blood-Brain Barrier, in normal and pathological conditions (i.e. Alzheimer’s disease,…). Using an original model consisting to cultivate bovine brain capillary endothelial cells with new born rat glial cells, his team studies the transport of Aβ peptides across the BBB and the relationship between brain cholesterol metabolism and Alzheimer’s disease. Since 2013, his team uses a human in vitro BBB model (Cecchelli et al., 2014, PLoSONE). Currently, he is the Co-director of the Blood-brain barrier (BBB) Laboratory located in Lens (France). He is serving as an editorial member of journals like the Journal of Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinsonism (JADP) & is expert Reviewers for several journals like JAD, PLoSONE, Neurobiology of disease, Neuropharmacology. He is a member of the European Network for Oxysterol Research (ENOR).
