It is a type of pericardial disease that may present as pericardial effusion, constrictive pericarditis, or effusive-constrictive pericarditis. Pericardial tuberculosis can be identified by the echocardiographic study of heart which shows presence of fibrin strands in the pericardial space.
Chest pain, cough, and breathlessness are the common symptoms of pericardial tuberculosis.
Pericardial tuberculosis is a rare manifestation of tuberculous disease that can be fatal even with proper diagnosis and treatment. The proper diagnosis and optimal therapeutic management of this pericardial tuberculosis disease is not known because of its rarity.
