Proteome

The proteome is the entire set of proteins expressed by a genome, cell, tissue or organism at a certain time. More specifically, it is the set of expressed proteins in a given type of cell or organism, at a given time, under defined conditions. The term is a blend of proteins and genome. Proteomics is the study of the proteome.Protein which is part of a proteome.  A proteome is the set of protein sequences that can be derived by translation of all protein coding genes of a completely sequenced genome, including alternative products such as splice variants for those species in which these may occur.
