Pulmonary disease may be defined as pathological conditions affecting the organs and tissues that make gas exchange possible in individual, and includes conditions of the upper respiratory tract, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, pleura and pleural cavity, and the nerves and muscles for breathing
The term pulmonary disease refers to many disorders affecting the lungs, such as asthma, COPD, infections like influenza, pneumonia and tuberculosis, lung cancer, and many other breathing problems. Some pulmonary diseases can lead to respiratory failure.
