Abstract :

The antral follicular count is an important parameter for female fertility. Serial follicular monitoring to see development, shape, margins, internal echoes, gave us much information. Itâ??s a vital component of IVF assessments and timing. It basically employs a simple technique for assessing ovarian follicles at regular intervals and documenting the pathway to ovulation. Day 3 ultrasound monitoring gave us a baseline size and number of existing follicles, and exclude any existing follicle from previous hyperstimulation. As the study progressed on day 7, we started guessing the ovulatory dominant follicle. Basically, we documented 3 varieties of eligible follicles. Atrelic dominant, ovulatory dominant and anovulatory dominant, follicles, based on their shapes, edges, and echogenicity. Follicular doppler flow studies added importantly to our studies. In our studies we took 150 patients, the study lasted for 8 months. Art process was successful in 50 out of 110 patients. Our success rate was improved when it was done with more focus on shape, margins, internal echoes and follicular blood flow of individual follicle, so with increasing incidences of infertility and need of its treatment, detailed follicular monitoring is the need of the present hour.
