Implications of diesel as fuel in articulated buses is an investigation that deals with the behavior of diesel type fuel in articulated buses that circulate in the Metrobús transport system of Mexico City. The study collects data through several years of constant revisions to the units, using buses that are located in a base of this system, which has the capacity to accommodate on average 39 articulated units of 18 meters long with capacity of up to 165 passengers and biarticulate of 25 meters long with capacity for 240 passengers. Using the multiplex system of the units, is collect the fuel consumption data of the units, and compare it with the data obtained in the fuel loading stations. The studies on fuel consumption are presented analyzing of the main factors that cause the high of fuel consumption, and the study on the quality of the fuel, which is in its entirety low sulfur diesel with a maximum 500 ppm. And to conclude, is makes a comparative analysis between to the EPA and EURO environmental regulations, emphasizing the applicable regulations from 2004 to the present day, as they were published, corresponding to EPA 04, and EURO 4 fulfilled by the buses analyzed, is explained main components and the amount of nosivos gases that the engines throw into the atmosphere.
