Abstract :

Recent studies have focussed on power quality issues of droop controlled AC microgrids. The present studies deals with power quality improvement issues of autonomous hybrid micro grids based on renewables which comprise of both AC as well as DC sub-grids An intelligent controller with power quality enhancement features using fuzzy logic is designed to control the power flow among sub grids enabling them to share the load more effectively. Improvement in THD and voltage unbalance factor is brought about by incorporating the control scheme. The system is modelled using MATLAB/SIMULINK and in the present study unbalanced loading conditions are emulated and the voltage regulation feature is extended to hybrid microgrids, which is not yet studied. The results obtained validate the efficacy of the control scheme.
